Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius currently do not have a postcode system. As a result, mail from residents, entrepreneurs and (government) organizations often does not arrive or arrives too late. Without postcodes, online services (e-commerce) cannot be used. In order to improve (online) government services in the Caribbean Netherlands, it is proposed to establish postcodes in the range 0000AA-0999ZZ. The Internet consultation is open to everyone and you have until August 26 to submit your ideas and respond.

Postal Code Caribbean Netherlands

New postal code system

The proposal to establish postal codes in the range 0000AA-0999ZZ for the Caribbean Netherlands is based on a consultation report by the Ministry of Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK). In 2024, we conducted a study on how postal codes can facilitate better postal delivery.

The proposal takes into account the following points:

  • The postal code system is used throughout the Caribbean Netherlands.
  • The postal code system conforms to the European Dutch system.
  • The island can be identified by its postal code. The minimum variation is 1 postal code per island.
  • The postal code system must be flexible and ready for growth.

The recommendations and proposals were developed in consultation with public institutions, implementing organizations, companies, FXDC, PostNL and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK) in Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius.
