A solar power plant is under construction in Botopasi, Upper Suriname.
The power plant will provide renewable energy to a cluster of nine villages for the foreseeable future.
Minister David Abiamoto and officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources (NH) are already at the scene.
The nine villages that will receive electricity through the Botopasi power plant are: Dan, Botopasi, Kambaloewe, Padalafanti, Tumaipa, Heikununu, Maisa Kriki, Malobi, Futunakeba.
The implementation work is undertaken by China Power Corporation.
