The president of the National Commerce and Services Council (Consecomercio), Gustavo Valecillos, reiterated the importance of all members and businessmen generally complying with the regulations on foreign currency transactions established by the authorities.
Valecillos stressed that attention must be paid to the indicators of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) to guarantee transparency and compliance with the regulation.
The head of the Consecomercio said private companies charge in dollars at the rates set by the BCV, but informal companies charge higher prices, especially on social networks. “There is a call for consumers to demand compliance with regulations. If this happens, the market will benefit,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce, through the National Supervisory Service for the Protection of Socio-Economic Rights (SUNDDE), has launched a national program to verify compliance with the BCV rate in food and grocery stores in the country. The program aims to avoid economic distortions and ensure that the Organic Law on Fair Prices is respected.
