July 14, 2024. – U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle was subpoenaed on July 22 to testify about the attack on former President Donald Trump at a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, this Saturday.

The call was made to Chittel in a letter signed by James Cuomo, the director of the Congressional Oversight and Accountability Division, who posted it on his X account.

Cuomo did not forget to highlight the “tremendous bravery” of the Secret Service agents present at the event, who protected Trump, neutralized the aggressor, and prevented further harm to the large number of spectators present (only two deaths so far).

However, many questioned whether the Secret Service was effective in stopping an armed sniper from shooting from a rooftop just 163 yards, or 150 meters, from the podium where the former president was speaking, unnoticed by the numerous agents present.

As several people interviewed on the television networks this afternoon emphasized, at this distance, and with weapons currently available on the U.S. market, it is relatively easy to hit the desired targets.

It’s surprising that Trump’s rally was known weeks in advance and was by no means improvised, but it’s also surprising that Secret Service agents didn’t have enough time to comb the area to rule out the risk of a similar attack in the same place.
