Telemundo journalist Luisa Sotero Franceschini graduated this Tuesday from the Law School of the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico (Inter).

According to the correspondent through her social networks, last Friday she was awarded a medal for her academic average. In addition, he received the Harvey B. Nachman Medal.

“I wanted to share and remember a very special night last Friday. It was a night of achievement. That night I was awarded the GPA Medal and the Harvey B. Nackman Medal. During my time as a student I dedicated myself to conducting various clinics; including domestic violence cases, a topic I am passionate about. These accomplishments are a testament to hard work and dedication, and to something much greater. A few years ago I was preparing for my first debate, and a few months ago we won the Miguel Velázquez National Law Championship, something I had wanted since my first debate in my Inter Derecho Studies class. Four years later I dared to do it with an excellent team and great teachers,” he wrote.

Likewise, he recalled the difficult moments he faced during his battle with cancer. In February last year, the correspondent revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 27. The reporter decided to share his story to awaken the conscience of young people to pay attention to their bodies and go for medical examinations in time.

“I achieved a lot, but I didn’t do it alone. For much of that time, I quietly faced a personal battle: cancer. I could not have achieved it without the unconditional support of my colleagues, who helped me learn and stay focused on my goals. At some points I wanted to quit, but they stopped me and did their best to be my mentors while I went through treatments and surgeries. Looking back today, I see a path filled with challenges, but also triumphs. Thank you to everyone who was there for me. Thank you, by the way. It was a challenging time, but I feel good about every experience that shaped me, from research, faculty help, advice, etc.,” he added.

Louisa graduated from Sacred Heart University with a degree in Communications and later received a Master’s degree from George Washington University.
