Computer and Communications Festival is full of surprises (Lin Guocheng) – EJ Tech

The four-day Hong Kong Computer and Communications Festival has come to a successful conclusion. This year’s traffic is still very large, and the entire venue is crowded with citizens and buyers who are keen on technology. What is different from previous years is that this exhibition not only has a wide range of electronic products, but also focuses on WiFi 7 and artificial intelligence (AI) products.

Manufacturers have launched the latest WiFi 7 routers and sold them at limited prices at the event. The affordable prices attracted a large number of users to inquire and buy them. WiFi 7 can become the main selling product of the Computer Festival because users have extremely high requirements for wireless Internet access, especially as more and more devices need to be connected to the Internet. If you want to reduce interference and get better performance, you need faster Internet speeds.

What surprised me most at this exhibition was that a telecom operator brought a new international standard released by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) in 2023.F5G-A (Fifth Generation Fixed Network – Advanced)The display broke the impression that the previous computer festivals were mainly sales-oriented. The telecom operator set up a live network speed test area at the booth, using its F5G-A super broadband with WiFi 7 routers, so that visitors can experience the network speed of up to 3Gbps through their mobile phones. The booth also has an AI specialist on site to explain how fixed-line broadband meets the F5G-A standard and recommend the latest and most suitable WiFi 7 routers to users.

On the other hand, AI is undoubtedly the current technological trend. Major manufacturers have launched different AI products, from Copilot+ computers to AI smartphones and even AI TVs. A telecom operator has set up an AI Store at the venue, gathering a variety of AI products to meet the needs of citizens and lay a solid foundation for future smart life.

Another highlight this year is the recycling event organized by the Hong Kong Electrical and Electronic Equipment Recycling Association. Participants only need to recycle any old electronic products at designated locations to receive free tickets to the 2024 Computer Festival, thus promoting environmental awareness.

In addition to consumer electronics and gaming experiences, the exhibition also features a “5G and Green Technology Life Experience Pavilion” to promote Hong Kong’s goal of becoming an innovative green technology city. In the experience pavilion, many local companies showcased various green technology solutions, including smart electric vehicle charging service solutions. In addition, educational institutions also took this opportunity to introduce courses related to 5G technology, such as 5G weather instruments, 5G Beidou satellite aerospace technology, etc., to let the industry understand the application potential of 5G technology in life and education.

Finally, I was fortunate to be a guest at the opening ceremony of the Computer Festival and witnessed the company I served win the “Hong Kong Outstanding Digital Brand Award 2024”Outstanding 5G Mobile Data Plan Provider“honor.
