July 18, Colsubsidio’s First Macro Job FairMore than 70 companies will be participating and more than 5,000 people looking for job opportunities are expected to attend.
The event will be held free of charge in Halls 18 to 23 of Bogota’s Corferias, where those interested will also be able to find career guidance and follow the academic agenda.
Colsubsidio General Manager Luis Carlos Arango Vélez interviewed by Portafolio Services provided at the exhibition and what the Compensation Fund has been doing to help boost employment in the country.

What is the motivation for holding a macro employment fair?
Within our functions, our starting point is that everything we do must be an opportunity to reduce social gaps.
Therefore, our participation in this campaign, together with the Bogotá Economic Secretariat, ElEmpleo.com, Magneto, El Tiempo, Sena and other allies, allows us to open a door and contribute to closing this gap.
How many companies will be involved and which industries stand out?
More than 70 employer companies in the construction, textile, service and other industries will participate in this round of macro financing. Companies from all walks of life will participate. There are no restrictions.
Now, to make it easier to find opportunities, they will be organized according to the type of activity they carry out. In the dedicated Career Route pavilion, you will find job opportunities for people with disabilities, the ICT industry, and more.
In the multi-sector, there will be companies from manufacturing, technology and telecommunications, commerce, construction, BPO and business management related sectors. A vocational training service pavilion will also be set up, along with complementary services provided free of charge by our allies.
Additionally, attendees will be able to find more than 11,000 job openings, as well as Colsubsidio’s robust academic agenda through the employment agency.

Can people without work experience participate in the exhibition?
Of course. Through the unemployment benefits we offer and the training provided by Fosfec, we are very interested in young people being able to get their first job.
What should participants pay attention to when entering the venue?
The visit is free. Everything is open, that is, we invite you to come and get to know the offers. There may be great opportunities for job offers there. In addition, they can guide you in preparing an appropriate resume.
People may get stuck when searching for a job, do they have any type of guidance in this regard?
We have the Colsubsidio employment agency, which has eight employment centers strategically located in Bogotá and its surroundings, as well as a mobile unit that covers all locations in the capital and Cundinamarca department.
The above provides a comprehensive employment pathway for unemployed women. In this route, we provide personalized career coaching and training, and offer more than 60 certified free courses on topics such as service and sales. We support not only the application for unemployment benefits, but also the application for a new job within a Colsubsidio affiliated company.
We also achieve this through connections to job opportunities based on people’s profiles and experience.

What is the progress on the issue of subsidies for the unemployed?
It is possible that we will continue to generate unemployment benefits equal to 1.5 times the minimum wage paid out over a four-month period.
To this end, we have invested nearly $70 billion in Fosfec.
Speaking of subsidies, how do you think this measure will affect access to housing subsidies, given the decline in mortgage rates?
It has a positive effect because it is important to have good housing finance available to a person with only one or two salaries. I think this measure is commendable because when banks reduce interest rates they are cooperating and contributing to further stimulating demand for new housing.
Colsubsidio, for example, in housing subsidies, allocated about P623 billion in 2023. This year, the figure will be between P680 billion and P700 billion.
What influence does the business sector have in the development of such initiatives?
The decisive factor for us is that we have to recognize that the business community is the engine of the jobs and opportunity economy, not only for the workforce but also for society.
Savings banks can provide all workers with the recreation, education and housing opportunities that we offer, thanks to the contribution and payments made by the Colombian business community in paying family subsidy social benefits, and this is where we must emphasize the importance of having a business structure in Colombia, which must be supported and strengthened.
