Chelsea striker Cole Palmer has signed a new two-year contract extension, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2033, according to journalist David Ornstein.

The 21-year-old moved to Chelsea from Manchester City for £40million last summer and has quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s top players.

Cole Palmer has committed to Chelsea by signing a two-year contract extension. The 22-year-old England striker had signed until 2031; the contract now runs until June 2033. He enjoyed a brilliant debut season at Chelsea after joining from Manchester City.“Ornstein said in an article on X on Tuesday.

Palmer enjoyed an outstanding first season in west London, scoring 25 goals and providing 15 assists in all competitions.

Palmer’s outstanding performances earned him a call-up to England’s Euro 2024 squad, where he played a major role. Palmer assisted Ollie Watkins’ winning goal in the semi-final and scored the equalizer in the final against Spain, although England ultimately failed to qualify.

Since Clearlake Capital bought the club from Roman Abramovich, Palmer has proven himself to be a remarkable success story, even though Chelsea’s transfer strategy has faced intense scrutiny in recent years.

His new contract comes with new clauses that reward him for his outstanding performances in his first season.

Palmer played in Chelsea’s final pre-season match against Inter Milan under new head coach Enzo Maresca and is expected to feature in Chelsea’s season opener against his former club Manchester City on Sunday.

Meanwhile, as Chelsea determine Palmer’s future, the future of another England international, Conor Gallagher, has become unclear.
Gallagher has agreed a £33.7m move to Atletico Madrid and has completed a medical with the La Liga side.

However, the transfer is at risk due to a reversal in the deal involving Samu Omorodion.

Chelsea have asked Gallagher to return to London while the issue is resolved, with Tottenham reportedly still interested in the 24-year-old midfielder.

Negotiations between Atletico and Chelsea are still ongoing to complete the deal.
