BEIJING, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Malian President Antonio Goita in Beijing on September 2, who was attending the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit.
The leaders of the two countries jointly announced the upgrading of bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
During the meeting, Xi Jinping expressed that China is willing to carry forward traditional friendship with Mali, continue to firmly support each other, and provide assistance within its capacity to Mali in developing its economy and improving people’s livelihood.
China will continue to encourage Chinese companies to invest in Mali and deepen cooperation in areas such as agriculture, energy, mineral development, and infrastructure construction. We hope that Mali will provide security guarantees and policy conveniences for Chinese companies.
Xi Jinping pointed out that China has always supported the right of the African people to independently determine their future destiny and is willing to support each other with Mali and other African countries to follow a path of modernization that suits their national conditions.
Goita said that Mali hopes to further enhance the level of strategic partnership between the two countries and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as agriculture, energy, mining and security.
Mali thanks China for its efforts and contributions to promoting regional and world peace and development, and looks forward to close multilateral cooperation with China.
