Early childcare providers are criticising the government for a lack of support.
They said the funding they received was “grossly inadequate”, leading to the permanent closure of the industry.
As a result, they have withdrawn from core government funding schemes, or are seriously considering doing so.
Elaine Dunn, president of the Federation of Early Childhood Providers, said small providers were struggling.
