Defending champions Queen Victoria School have progressed to the semi-finals of the Vodafone Dean’s U18 competition after defeating Marist Brothers High School 13-6 in the final quarter-final at the HFC Bank Stadium today.
QVS started strongly, scoring first in the 20th minute and then the second just two minutes later.
They scored in quick succession, leading 13-3 at halftime and putting Marist at a disadvantage.
Despite the strong start, QVS was unable to extend the lead in the second half as Marist tightened up its defense and fought back with a penalty kick to reduce the deficit to 13-6.
However, the QVS defence was impenetrable and the team showed great grit and determination to maintain their lead.
In the final stages of the game, Marist played with all its might, but QVS stood firm and did not allow their opponents any further points.
