The Central Police Department has clarified a series of thefts that occurred at Suriname Zijin Gold Co. The thefts took place between December 2023 and July 31, 2024 and included complete car engines and other property stolen from the gold company’s premises in Brokopondo.
After the company reported the case on July 31, investigators began an in-depth investigation, which led to the identification of three suspects.
The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the property multiple times at night to commit thefts.
After in-depth investigation, two suspects, Andre K. and Nelson K., were found and arrested. During the interrogation, the suspects confessed truthfully. According to the instructions of the suspects, part of the stolen goods were recovered.
After consultation with the Surinamese Prosecutor’s Office, two suspects have been detained. The search and arrest of the third suspect is still ongoing.
