Students of the Lobayembaiki Higher College of Rural Development have lamented the conditions in which they study. Apart from the serious ageing of the college’s buildings, students also complained of certain dysfunctions that hinder the smooth conduct of studies.

The buildings of the Mbaiki College of Higher Rural Development have begun to deteriorate badly. At first glance, they appear to have not been visited in months. This bears witness to the dismay of some students.

” I am anxious”

“These buildings were built a long time ago. I don’t think any restoration has been done since they were built. I just arrived. But when I saw this very serious deterioration, I was worried” Regret Kalyste, 1st grade studenttime Year of the project cycle.

Almost all the rooms are unusable due to lack of materials or age. Another student who wished to remain anonymous also condemned the poor study conditions: “There are at least 4 students in one common room. What’s worse, when it rains, water leaks from the roof. As a result, students cannot have a good rest. The institute has no toilets or restrooms. It’s a shame” He is very angry.

Realizing the deterioration of the situation, the institute’s director said a project to renovate the buildings would be implemented soon.

‘A widespread problem’

“The degradation problem is widespread. The restoration of all the buildings is estimated to cost about 2 billion CFA francs. This is a very high amount. But for three years now, with the support of the government, the African Development Bank has included the restoration of buildings as part of the Corridor 13 project that is currently being implemented. said Serge Florent Bolevane Outinam, Director of Mbaïki ISDR.

Besides this problem, students and administrators also complain about the lack of teaching materials. The Mbaiki Higher Institute for Rural Development is an institution of the University of Bangui, established in 1970 as part of the Central African Higher Education Foundation (FESAC).
