Central African Republic: Minister of Sports suspends NOC TG. Why?

Despite suspicions between the Central African Republic’s National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSCA) and the Ministry of Sports of misappropriating part of the funds for the Central African Republic’s participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics, the head of the Sports Department has suspended the CNOSCA’s General Treasurer from his position in charge of all sports activities.

After the Paris Olympics, when some Central African delegates returned home, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Héritier Doneng, issued a notice suspending the Treasurer General of the Central African National Olympic and Sports Committee, Fernand Mande Djapou, from all sports activities. The official document stated that the Treasurer General of the National Sports Administration was accused of “peddling influence, verbal violence, recording and broadcasting videos of female executives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and contempt for the Minister of Sports on social networks.”

Why insult the minister?

Last July, a strong Central African delegation of about 50 people participated in the Paris Olympics, including only four athletes. Due to indiscretions, controversy has arisen around the management of government grants. It is alleged that senior managers in charge of the delegation misappropriated 10 million CFA francs from the budget. As a result, Fernand Mande Djapou, the general treasurer of CNOSCA, will also be among the condemned. The case went viral on social networks.

In response to a question from Radio Ndeke Luka, Héritier Doneng said: “In this environment, I am the guarantor of discipline, the reasons given are clear and sanctions will be imposed. He violated sporting values. Taking her photo and distributing it on social networks without the consent of colleagues and department heads is a serious crime.”

If the minister considers that these actions are “contrary to Olympic values”, Fernand Mander Jaap will condemn the “arbitrary and illegal decisions”.

“I think this is an illegal decision because I am not a civil servant. I work as a freelancer. He has no right to suspend all my activities. Why didn’t he decide to suspend my sales? said the CNOSCA General Treasurer.

While waiting for the truth of this graft to come out, the Minister of Youth and Sports promised strict disciplinary measures in the coming days.
