Representatives of the three Bocaranga regions are raising their voices in the face of persistent insecurity in Ouampende and Limpende territories. Martin Ziguele, president of the Movement for the Liberation of the People of the Centrafricain (MLPC), has criticized the government’s security policy in the region.
Representatives and opponents of the Bangui regime have not gone out of their way to denounce the authorities’ “deliberate silence and lack of political will” in the face of the ongoing insecurity in the northern and western regions of the country. Martin Ziguelle insisted on providing the Central African armed forces with effective logistical means to combat armed groups operating there.
‘Clear lack of political will’
“The commander of the gendarmerie battalion, the police department, the commander of the 6th Battalion of the Territorial Infantry and his entire team have no vehicles. All the representatives of the defence and security forces and the internal security forces in this border town have no vehicles. I call it a blatant lack of political will. Martin Ziguélé, a representative of Bocaranga 3, expressed regret.
The exit of the Bokalanga III MP follows recent attacks against national army positions. First in Bambari, in the center of the country, and then in Ngutere in the north. All these attacks were responsible by the Coalition of Patriots for Change (CPC). Last Tuesday, for example, the village of Ngutere, not far from Bokalanga, was attacked, killing about 15 people, including five soldiers. The MLPC president called for a crackdown on all armed groups active in the area.
Killing civilians: No justification
“I cannot justify attacks against civilians. I will not accept any excuse. They must be hit in the same way as those responsible for the crime. Let’s bring them to court. What is the political point of killing a young woman and poor peasant in Ngutere? What did they do? “, Martin Ziegler asked.
The elected national representatives asked the government to evaluate the four-year military planning law passed by parliament in December 2018. The law provides for the transformation from a projection army to a garrison army, the construction of a military training center, the increase in the number of soldiers, and the purchase of equipment for the national army to protect the national territory.
