In Zemio, one of the territories of Upper Mbomou in the southeast, the Defense and Internal Security Forces launched a house search operation in the early hours of Friday. These operations have caused confusion among the population.
According to local sources contacted by Radio Ndekluka, the operation was carried out from the early hours of the morning by elements of the defence and security forces, in particular the gendarmerie, police and the Central African Armed Forces (FACA). Several houses were searched, but it is difficult to make a preliminary assessment of this large-scale operation at this time, as local authorities have reserved any comments.
The operation came a few days after clashes between the national army and UPC rebels in the Bar and Thabane areas on the Rafai axis, during which one soldier was killed and two others, as well as several rebels, were injured.
According to some sources, the situation in Zemio town is tense because former A Zandé Ani Kpi Gbé elements, who were integrated into the national army, reportedly asked the police for a UPC leader who was arrested in recent clashes not far from Zemio. But faced with refusal, these former militias continue to exert pressure to try to capture the rebel leader from the police. However, the city is calm and people are timidly going about their business.
