Radio Ndekluka has learned from local sources that a position of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA) in the village of Ngutere, 50 km from Bokalanga, on the axis towards Bozoum, was attacked early on Tuesday by unidentified armed men. No assessment is available at this time.

According to testimonies, residents of Nguteré were awakened by explosions from heavy weapons after the local FARC base was attacked at around 3 a.m. The identity of the attackers and the outcome of the attack were unknown at the time of posting this information. “The fact is that there was an attack. Until now, we still hear gunfire. When I was in the gendarmerie, I learned that the Central African armed forces that came to reinforce would also be ambushed. I don’t know the outcome” Bocaranga Mayor Aime Césaire Kodomo testified. Municipal authorities also feared the attack would force residents of Ngutere village to flee into the bush. “It is certain that people are going into a psychotic state. Residents will be panicking and they will hide in the bushes because of this attack.””, Mayor Bocaranga said in despair.

When contacted, the Minister of Defense confirmed the attack and said the situation was under control of the Central African Armed Forces. Four days ago, the Central African Army repelled a rebel attack near Bambari in the center of the country, causing the loss of seven (7) combatants to the Chinese Communist attackers.

Even with the deployment of the Central African Armed Forces, the Ouham-Pendé region in northern CAR remains a stronghold for the “3R” armed elements. Traffic on the Bozoum-Bokaranga axis through the village of Ngutéré has been impassable for almost two years due to the presence of numerous anti-personnel mines.
