Ceballos proposes college scholarship program through endowment

Venezuelan opposition candidate Daniel Ceballos proposed this Friday to finance a scholarship program for the Experimental National University of Táchira (western state, bordering Colombia) through donations, which his party, Arepa Digital, would receive.

«The Arepa Digital Fund can accept donations. Of these, an important part of the funds is allocated to Bitcoins, which, by guaranteeing the security of these Bitcoins and putting them in a liquidity pool (…), can generate income, ”explained Ceballos to EFE after an event at the university.

According to the candidate, these revenues will be distributed by the party “for social welfare”, while for the universities they will be deposited “in the form of donations” for the authorities to “manage” He assured the institution that they are evaluating the plan with a view to approving it.

During the event, Ceballos also presented the “Pact of Hope,” a “national unity” agreement based on social and economic policies that he proposed to other presidential candidates last May.

«The University Council authorities of the University of Táchira, my home of learning, received today our proposals for the Pacts of Hope. We hope that they can serve as a space for debate and agreement between presidential candidates. ”said Ceballos.

The candidate, who was supported by the political organizations Arepa and Voluntad People, was handed over to the opposition dissident after the intervention of the Supreme Court. He was arrested in 2014 while mayor of San Cristóbal, Táchira, on charges of involvement in violence during the national wave of protests, and was subsequently released in 2018.
