The Israeli army evacuated about 200 troops from a military base in the occupied West Bank on Friday due to a fire nearby, the Anadolu Agency reported.
Anadolu Agency cited Israel’s Ynet news website as saying that soldiers had evacuated from a base near the illegal settlement of Kfar Etzion in the south due to a fire in an open field near the base.
But the military did not explain the cause of the fire.

The report said the fire department suspected it might be arson “because the fire apparently started in multiple places at the same time.”
The Jerusalem Post said police had launched an investigation into the fire and were “concurrently conducting investigative operations and searching for suspects in the area.”
The situation in East Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank has been tense since the October 7 uprising.
