The Carolina Titans secured a spot in the 2024 National Super Basketball Playoffs with a 102-92 win over the Bayamon Vaqueros in a game held tonight at the Carolina Guillermo Angulo Stadium.
This is Carolina’s third playoff berth since returning to Puerto Rico basketball in 2021.
With this victory, the national champions improved their record to 19-14 and moved up to second place in Group B, while the eliminated Vaqueros now have 9-22.
Leading by as much as 20 points, Carolina went on a 10-0 run in the second quarter, which was enough to never look back.
With the locals leading 35-34, JJ Romo made two 3-pointers to bring the score to 41-34, forcing Bayamo head coach Nelson Colon to call for an emergency timeout.
After halftime, Thomas Robinson made two free throws, and the Eastern Conference finally led 45-34.
Robinson was the Giants’ top player with 24 points and nine rebounds, followed by Scotty James with 21 points and Brandon Goodwin with 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
In the loss, Kyle Ross came off the bench to score 22 points for the Cowboys, followed by E.J. Crawford with 15 and Gaby Bellardo with 11.
Carolina has only one commitment left, and that is this Saturday they will visit Leones de Ponce, in Pachín Vicens, of this august city.
The BSN postseason is scheduled to begin the second week of July.
