MADRID (Euronews). – The Canadian government warned this Saturday its compatriots to avoid “all travel” to Israel, due to the growing risk of an intensification of armed conflict in the Middle East, especially after the assassination of the leader of Hamas by the Jewish State, Ismail Haniyeh, this Wednesday in Iran.
“We have changed the risk level for Israel to ‘avoid all travel’,” the Canadian government announced on social network X, warning that the “security situation could deteriorate further without warning” in the region.
Canadian authorities warned their citizens in a travel advisory that they would face difficulties leaving Israeli territory if armed conflict escalates: “This may result in travel disruptions, including airspace closures and flight cancellations and diversions.
On the other hand, Canadian citizens who wish to remain in Israel can receive information through the “Alert App” provided by their government, which advises them to follow “instructions from local authorities.”
The warning came after Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei promised “severe punishment” for Israel after Haniyeh was killed in Tehran on Wednesday by a missile fired from abroad.
