Swimmer Camila Haase heads into the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games with great disappointment after finishing the SB8 category (swimmers with partially missing limbs) 100m breaststroke preliminaries.
Camilla, who was competing in the second heat, realised she had committed an infraction after seeing the blackboard on the swimming competition stage, which resulted in her being disqualified.
The 24-year-old athlete could not hide her frustration as she competed in her third Paralympic Games, having competed in Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and now Paris 2024.
Camila qualified for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games through the two-way method specified by the International Federation and the International Paralympic Committee (ICC) after evaluating her 100m silver medal in the 2023 Santiago Para Pan American Games, winning a breastplate and bronze in the 200m individual medley.
Now the swimmer will focus on the 200m individual medley, which will be next Thursday, September 5, at 2:45am Costa Rica time.
