Northern Uraya Commissioner Reni Ma warned that recent developments in the north must not threaten the environment.
He made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the Goodwill North Festival at Subrail Park in Labasa on Saturday.
“This change in the business landscape is a landmark achievement for our people,” he said.
“As we celebrate these achievements, we have to make sure we are doing the right thing.
At the opening ceremony on Saturday night, contestants wore costumes made from recycled items such as sacks, plastic and old greenhouses, in line with this year’s theme, “Sustainable Agriculture – Green Economy.”
