Two days after the opening ceremony of the Paris Paralympics, Caledonian Vittorio Cavaca will begin the javelin event on Saturday to Sunday evening. The 29-year-old thrower aims to win a medal in his first Olympics.
He put all the chances on his side, Vittorio Cavacava. He was absent from the French delegation during the parade of athletes at the opening ceremony, choosing to protect himself in order to be fully prepared for the competition.
See him on Sunday for a run at 4 a.m. Le Cargou will try to take the field at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis on the third day of the Paralympic Games.
He has a way, but he must surpass himself. His throw this season is 46.63 meters, ranking fifth among the best throwers of 2024. It is far from the best throw of 50.18 meters of Brazilian Cicero Valdiran Lins Nobre this season.
Last May at the World Championships in Kobe, Japan, Vittorio Kavakava threw 43.02 meters to place sixth. In the competition, Lins Nobre was ahead of Turkey’s Muahammet Khalvandi (49.80 m) and Indonesia’s Fauzi Purwolaksono (48.25 m).
Residents of the French Sports Centre for the Disabled in Noumea will also take part in the shot put competition next weekend, during the night (4 hours) from Saturday to Sunday.
Two other New Caledonian athletes will compete in Para athletics during these Games. They are Pierre Fairbank and Félicien Siapo. Both will appear in the night events from Sunday to Monday, in the 100m T44 (ambulance) and 400m T53 (wheelchair) respectively.
