The boss of Ayii Duang Ayii, the South’s top airline, has threatened to sue parliament over the summons.
Businessman Ayi said the House of Representatives had no right to summon him.
The threat came after the businessman ignored a summons from the National Legislative Assembly over allegations of leaking over $190 million in cheques.
Businessman Ayi told a press conference in Juba on Tuesday evening that he was demanding that the government pay $190 million owed from a contract executed during the 2013 crisis.
“I did not ask for the contract. It was the government that used my aircraft, fuel and food during difficult times (the 2013 conflict),” he said.
The businessman confirmed that he received a summons from Parliament but was unable to attend as it came too late and he had business commitments.
“The summons was delivered at 3:30 pm and asked me to appear in parliament at 10 am the next day. You want me to bring something, what do you want me to do, give me some time,” Ayi said.
He added: “Even the court summons stipulates a 72-hour deadline.”
“We have instructed the company’s legal counsel to lodge a complaint with the Speaker of Parliament to revoke his immunity (committee chairman) as he has damaged the company’s reputation and prove to us that what he said is true.”
