Burnt and shot bodies found in Canovanas – Puerto Rico Metropolitan Area

It was reported that a violent death occurred at about 11:55 pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Alta Vista Road, PR-185 Highway, Lomas del Viento Section, Canovanas Town.

According to initial reports from military police, police were alerted to the situation via a 9-1-1 call and when officers arrived they found a vehicle on fire.

Near the aforementioned vehicle was the body of a man with partial burns and gunshot wounds.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the deceased.

Agents with the Carolina Criminal Investigation Team (CIC) are investigating this violent death.

They identify a man who was murdered in Grand Baha

Police identified 75-year-old Víctor Manuel Hernández Vázquez as the victim of the murder that occurred Thursday afternoon on Fourth Street in the San José neighborhood of Toa Baja.

Based on preliminary information, someone called the Grand Baja Police District regarding a shooting at a residence. Upon arrival, agents discovered the body of Hernandez-Vazquez, who lived at the aforementioned address, inside the building.

The investigation was led by Special Agent Edwin Rodriguez Ortiz and supervised by Chief Jesus Alicia Ortiz and Prosecutor Liane Ortiz of the Homicide Section of the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) of Bayamon.

The police report stated that agents assigned to the Bayamon Sur Police Station investigated a violent death that occurred on Wednesday at a ranch at kilometer 6.6 of Highway 830 in the Santa Olaya community of Bayamon.

According to preliminary information, police responded to a 9-1-1 emergency system call regarding a decomposed body. Upon arrival, agents discovered the body of a man who had been shot and partially burned, identified as Luis A. Bermúdez Rivera, 24, of Bayamon.

The deceased was booked in August 2022 for crimes related to controlled substances.

The investigation was led by Special Agent Vivian Acevedo Jiménez and supervised by Chief Julio Figueroa Hernández of the Homicide Section of the Criminal Investigation Team (CIC) of Bayamon and Prosecutor Arlene González.
