Palestinian resistance groups mobilized to repel the attack after Israeli troops again invaded the Shejaiya neighborhood east of Gaza City.
The Israeli army has not yet revealed the reason for its third incursion into the region, which has been one of the most stubborn areas of resistance in this war and previous ones.
What we do know, however, is that Palestinian resistance forces have inflicted severe damage on the invading forces.
The Qassam Brigades said that in one operation, they targeted an Israeli Namer personnel carrier, burned it, and killed or injured everyone inside.
Elsewhere in Gaza, the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian movement Hamas, announced Thursday that it had fired a Yassin 105 shell at an Israeli Merkava tank in the Shabra camp in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

Additionally, the Qassam Missile Force reported that it fired a Yassin-105 missile at an Israeli troop carrier in the Saudi community west of Rafah, causing the vehicle to catch fire.
According to Al Jazeera, Israel sent helicopters to the scene to evacuate the dead and injured.
Qassam Islam also said its fighters sniped an Israeli soldier near the Shapeli Mosque east of Rafah and bombed an Israeli army command room in the Netzarim area using a short-range Rajum missile.
The Quds Force, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, claimed it had bombarded the Sufa military base east of Rafah with mortar shells.
The Nasir Salahuddin Brigades broadcast footage of them controlling an Israeli Heron aircraft in central Gaza.
