Digicel Bula Boys ended their Oceania Football Confederation Nations Cup campaign in fourth place today after losing 2-1 to Tahiti in the bronze medal match at the Freshwater Stadium in Vanuatu.
Coach Rob Sherman opted to move most of the reserve players into the starting lineup to get playing time in the team’s final game of the tournament.
After a goalless first half, captain Roy Krishna came off the bench and scored a brilliant goal in the 57th minute, deftly dribbling past the defenders and goalkeeper to slot the ball into an empty net.
Tahiti captain Teaonui Tehau scored twice in 11 minutes, including the winning free kick in the 82nd minute that caught Fijian goalkeeper Aiydin Mustahib off guard, as Tahiti took home the bronze medal.
