Buckingham Palace to open new rooms to the public this summer

For the first time this summer, Buckingham Palace East Wing opens to the publicso that he could enter the room overlooking the famous balcony where the British royal family greets the crowds.

Buckingham Classics’ summer tours begin this Thursday, but the Royal Collection Trust, which is responsible for opening Buckingham’s royal residence to the public, said the new rooms in the east wing will be available from July 15. Tickets, which cost £75 (€88), sold out in a few hours in April. Room near balcony

They will have access to the main corridor, specially decorated with paintings by Thomas Gainsborough, and to the rooms next to the balcony, which overlooks the famous Mall and where the public gathers on special occasions. However, visitors will not be able to play the game of greeting the crowd on this balcony as they will not be able to access it.

The monarch and members of the royal family have gathered here for public appearances since 1851. On 15 June, the royal family appeared there again for the birthday procession of Charles III.

More than five years of work

The East Wing will open at the end of August after more than five years of £369 million (€436 million) refurbishment. The classic Buckingham summer tour will run until the end of September.

Visitors who are allowed access to the East Wing, in addition to the standard tour, can access 19 rooms used by the Royal Family for official receptions, all decorated with some of the finest art in the Royal Collection. The public can also take a guided tour of the gardens.
