The new branch opened in Brikama on Wednesday is BSIC’s fifth branch nationwide and will help expand the bank’s portfolio to support a wider range of economic activities, from small businesses to large industrial companies, ensuring that BSIC’s customers have the financial tools they need to grow.
In his opening remarks, the Managing Director of BSIC-Gambia Limited, Hani Ezgale, said banks play a key role in the economic sector and are key drivers in mobilizing resources, stimulating the economy, and invigorating trade and industry.
He noted that by channelling savings into productive investments, banks provide the necessary finance for business growth and innovation, and facilitate trade by providing financial instruments and services that enable domestic and international transactions to proceed smoothly.
“Banks support industries by providing loans and credit support, helping businesses expand, creating jobs and boosting overall economic development,” he said, adding that banks play a vital role in ensuring a stable and vibrant economy, where resources are used efficiently and promotes sustainable growth.
Managing Director Hani said increased competition is driving innovation and improving the quality of services provided, ultimately benefiting both consumers and businesses.

He noted that geographically, the bank’s horizontal expansion plan is aimed at increasing its presence in key areas of The Gambia, ensuring that a wider range of people have access to BSIC’s services.
He added that this growth strategy is driven by the desire to bring financial inclusion and opportunity to underserved communities and boost regional economic development.
The Managing Director of Gambia International Airlines, Alhagie Numo Sanneh, who was the guest speaker at the event, called on businesses in Brikama and its environs to do business with the bank.
He said the new branch will open wider doors for businesses, especially micro, small and medium enterprises to thrive in the market through the bank’s productive financial services.
In her thank you speech, the Director of Human Resources and Administration of BSIC-Gambia Limited, Mrs. Hadi Jallow, said Brikama has been the core of its business.
As a bank, they are also focusing on micro, small and medium enterprises in Brikama, adding that BSIC has a corporate social responsibility to contribute and give back to the resilience building of business operations in the community.
