The construction of the Brondios airport is currently in full swing, but according to information from Fekis, the airport is scheduled to reopen in late August and September. Then, a layer of gravel will be removed from the site and a layer of cover will be applied to the airfield and the airport ramp.
Construction has been delayed but is expected to take ten days, starting in early August.
“The airport has been waiting for repairs for a long time, but the venue has been out of use for a long time, for example when ice breaks off the ground,” said Jónas Brói, the venue’s manager and an Isavia employee. “As a result, the air ambulance is not always able to land because there is no capacity on site. So providing the stadium with a cover is a revolution, and it will probably be as good as it can be all year round.”
