JAKARTA (ANTARA) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held an inauguration ceremony for several new ministers, a new deputy minister, and heads of new government agencies at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
The new officers are:
1. Bahlil Lahadalia as Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources
2. Rosan Roeslani as Minister of Investment
3. Supratman Andi Agtas becomes Minister of Justice and Human Rights
4. Angga Raka Prabowo as Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatics
5. Dadan Hindayana to head the National Nutrition Agency
6. Hassan Nasbi appointed Director of the Presidential Communications Office
7. Taruna Ikrar serves as Director General of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).
At the inauguration ceremony, officials took an oath led by President Joko Widodo: “In the name of Allah, I pledge that I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution and enforce all applicable laws for the sake of loyalty and service to the nation and the country.”
Ali Devipayana, coordinator of the President’s Special Office, said the appointment of these new officials is necessary to prepare and support a smooth, seamless and effective transition of government.
Below are brief profiles of the ministers, deputy ministers and heads of government agencies:
Baril Lahadalia
Rahadalia, born on August 7, 1976 in Banda, Maluku province, was sworn in on Monday as the new Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, replacing Arifin Tasrifu.
Previously, he was appointed Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) by President Joko Widodo on October 23, 2019, and Minister of Investment on April 28, 2021.
Prior to becoming the minister, Baril Rahadalia served as the General Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPP HIPMI) from 2015 to 2019, reflecting his extensive experience in the business sector.
In fact, he does have an entrepreneurial background, with his parent company PT Rifa Capital owning 10 companies in different sectors.
Although he was born in Maluku, he received his higher education in Jayapura, Papua, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree from the Portunube School of Economics.
During his tenure as head of the Ministry of Investment, Indonesia’s investment realization in 2023 reached 1,418.9 trillion rupiah (about US$91.12 billion).
Rosan Roslani
Roslani is a well-known businessman in Indonesia. In 1992, he received a double bachelor’s degree in management and general business, with a minor in finance, from Oklahoma State University, and in 1995 he received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Antwerp, Belgium.
Before succeeding Rahadalia as Minister of Investment, he served as Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) from 2015 to 2021 and was appointed Indonesia’s Ambassador to the United States in 2021.
The man, who was born in Jakarta on Dec. 31, 1968, is a recipient of Oklahoma State University’s Henry G. Bennett Distinguished Fellows Program, which recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Oklahoma State University and the nation.
After serving as ambassador, he was appointed deputy minister of state-owned enterprises in 2023, but resigned the same year because he was appointed head of the national campaign team for Prabowo Subianto and Jibran Rakabun Raka in the 2024 presidential election.
Subratman Andy Agtas
Agtas is a politician from the Indonesian Great Movement Party. He was a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at Tadulako University in Palu, Central Sulawesi from 1998 to 2012, and worked as a lawyer from 1996 to 1998.
He completed his legal education at two universities in Makassar: Bachelor’s and PhD degrees at the University of Muslim Indonesia (UMI) and Master’s degree at Hasanuddin University.
The man was born on September 28, 1969 in Sopong, South Sulawesi, and his political career began as a member of the Third Committee of the House of Representatives (DPR) from 2014 to 2019, and then as a member of the Sixth Committee of the House of Representatives (DPR) from 2019 to 2024.
During this period, he served as Chairman of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s legislature.
Agtas has assumed office as the new Minister of Justice and Human Rights, replacing Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly.
Angga Raka Prabowo
With the inauguration of Angga Raka Prabowo, the Indonesian government officially increased the number of deputy ministers of the Ministry of Communications and Information to two.
Previously, there was only one deputy minister, Nezar Patria.
Angga is a politician from the Gerindra Party, which is led by President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who is now defense minister.
He served as the communications director and campaign media director for the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabumin Raka national campaign for the 2024 presidential election.
He joined the Gerindra party in 2008 and became part of the party’s media team in 2012. Angga was then appointed as Prabowo’s secretary from 2014 to 2017.
Dadan Sindhyana
Hindayana, who has just been appointed as the director of the newly created National Nutrition Agency, is a lecturer in the postgraduate course in entomology at the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB University.
He graduated from IPB University in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in plant protection and then continued his studies in applied entomology at the University of Bonn, Germany, graduating in 1997.
He also studied at Leibniz University Hannover, Germany and graduated in 2000. In addition, Hindayana completed his doctoral education at IPB University.
He scored 643 points, according to the Science and Technology Index (Sinta) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.
Hassan Nasbi
Nasby, who has taken up the position of Director of the Presidential Communications Office, is a political observer and founder of the Cyrus Online investigative agency.
Born in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra in 1979, he served as a member of the synchronization task force of the government of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Jibran Rakabumin Raka.
The Presidential Communications Office was established pursuant to Presidential Regulation No. 82 of 2024, “Presidential Communications Office”, to effectively implement the President’s strategic communications and messages in a coordinated and integrated manner.
Student Oath
The new head of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), Taruna Ikrar, is a doctor, pharmacy, cardiology and neurology specialist who studied at Hasanuddin University in Makassar from 1988 to 1997.
He then studied pharmacology at the University of Indonesia (UI) from 1998 to 2003 and in the field of cardiovascular research at Niigata University, Japan from 2004 to 2008.
In addition, he studied anatomy and neurobiology at the University of California, Los Angeles from 2008 to 2013, and was a researcher at the university from 2013 to 2016.
