On August 18, 1994, Master Alberto Craber founded the Brazilian Taekwondo Institute Savaneta MarinesAt the time the school was called Savaneta Taekwondo Stichting but changed its name after they left Marinierskazerne. On Monday some of the taekwondo athletes came together with members of the Brazilian Taekwondo Association to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Former Brazilian Taekwondo coach Master Willy Williams began training athletes after Alberto Crabbe found him and asked him to take over. To become a coach, Williams had to undergo rigorous training. He coached the Brazilian Taekwondo School for twelve years.

Master Willy Williams told everyone present how he got started in Taekwondo until he retired and handed the school back to Alberto Craber. Over the years, the Brazilian Taekwondo Association has built Taekwondo in Aruba and brought it to where it is today. The Brazilian Taekwondo Association is a forward-thinking association that always invests in athletes who represent Aruba around the world.

Brazilian Taekwondo master Alberto Klaber said that after he finished his studies in 1992, he returned to Aruba in 1993 and founded the Taekwondo School in 1994. Klaber is giving back to the sport that gave him the opportunity.

Often Crabbe’s athletes were part of the Aruba trials, and many placed high. Williams retired and Crabbe stayed with the Suns, but then he decided to pass it on to Clifford Rasmijn, who had a long career in taekwondo.

Many parents showed interest in Taekwondo, bringing their children to see how Master Alberto Klaber and Master Willy Willems made Taekwondo what it is today. The athletes of the Brazilian Taekwondo Federation are happy with their sport and enjoy training Taekwondo.
