Oranjestad, Aruba – July 25, 2023 – The Chico Harms Foundation launches the Brazil Day 2024 season. Brazil Day is the first Sunday of September every year, next year it will be September 1, 2024. In Bonello they celebrate Rincon Day, so, in Aruba we celebrate Brazil Day. It is a season to celebrate Creole music, traditional costumes, local gastronomy and Aruban culture in a good atmosphere from the surrounding Brazilian region.
The season begins with an acoustic parade, then a street song festival and the crowning of the King of Culture, and ends with a lantern parade and a cultural folklore parade for Brazil’s National Day. Here is the calendar of upcoming events:
- July 27: Caya Cantica Festival for Adults
- July 28 – Cantica di Caya Infantil & Hubenil Festival
- Augustus 17 – Typical Batacasso
- August 24 – Crowning of the Queen of Culture
- August 30 – Lantern Parade
- August 31: Tambu Carnival
- September 1: Cultural and Folklore Parade and Brazil Day
The next event is the Street Song Festival, where we will learn the songs that will dominate the streets this season. During the festival, local bands release new songs and compete. We want to invite all Arubans to come to our festival! The festival takes place in the Brazilian Neighborhood Center. We sell tickets at the door: 10 florins for adults and 5 florins for children.
Embrace good culture, Aruba! Let’s celebrate, enjoy and enhance our culture. Fundacion Chico Harms would like to thank all its partners for their support: Aruba Tourism Board, NV ELMAR, Balashi, Ministry of Culture, UNOCA, RAYO, SETAR, Banco di Cariba and De Palm Tours.
