Kazakh boxer Saken Bibosynov, competing in the 51kg category, was reportedly defeated by Uzbek boxer Hasanboy Dusmatov at the Paris Olympics Marine Sports.
The quarter-finals took place on the evening of August 2, and the Uzbekist won by split decision. Dusmatov thus guaranteed himself at least a bronze medal. Biboshinov completed his performance at the Olympics.
Let us remind you that in his first Olympic match, Biboshinov defeated the 2024 European champion, Turkish boxer Samet Gümüş.
The 27-year-old Biboshinov is the 2020 Olympic bronze medalist, 2021 world champion, and third at the 2019 World Championships. He won bronze and silver medals at the 2021 and 2022 Asian Championships.
The 31-year-old Dusmatov is the 2016 Olympic champion, the 2023 World Champion, and a three-time Asian champion – the Universiade champion in 2015, 2017, 2022 and 2013. He is also the silver medalist at the 2017 World Championships.
This is already the sixth defeat of the Kazakh team in the men’s competition at the Olympics. Previously, Makhmud Sabyrkhan (under 57 kg), Muhammedsabyr Bazarbayuly (under 63.5 kg), captain Aslanbek Shymbergenov (under 71 kg), Aibek Oralbay (under 92 kg) and Kamshybek Kunkabaev (over 92 kg) withdrew from the competition.
Kazakhstan currently has four medals for the 2024 Olympics: judokas Eldos Smetov and Gusman Kyrgyzbaev won gold and bronze respectively, while shooters Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev won bronze. In addition, boxer Nurbek Oralbay (80 kg) is guaranteed at least a bronze medal.
