What has been said in the previous section corresponds to the logic of the autobiosis described by Freud, which allows the baby to have the illusion of the breast, the illusion that he is feeding, while in fact he is not eating anything. The baby will then suck his fingers and believe that he is being fed. Of course, this belief is also valid if it is not perpetuated. On the other hand, if it becomes persistent, the subject is trapped in a maddening paradox, consisting of trying to believe in something that does not exist. This is why adults, in order to show that we are not fooled, say “I don’t suck my thumb.”.

The current autoeroticism well describes a period in which each subject is self-sufficient, each convinces himself that his thoughts are identical to reality; a period characterized by the logic of hallucination. In this state, hatred and panic are intertwined, incited and exploited, and more and more people try to believe in fictitious stories, without realizing that hunger is gradually coming upon them.

Thus, part of the political discourse convinces each subject of an autoerotic world in which everyone must be a solitary entrepreneur, everyone is his or her own boss, and everyone can get everything he or she wants on his or her own. In that world, it is no longer important to listen to others or to see others, or even to be heard or seen. Everyone only sees and hears himself or herself. Therefore, Freud questioned autoeroticism because it produces a thought that has nothing to do with reality.

And if Freud said that health is like neurosis because it does not deny reality, but it is also like psychosis because we try to change it, today we have reversed the equation: we deny reality and no longer seek to change it.

In short, hunger, as we know it, makes you unable to think, hunger makes it almost impossible to hallucinate, before death comes hunger, and as Borges said, terror and humiliation prevail. So when lucidity is destroyed, reality follows the same trajectory, and there is nothing left of a person’s life.
