Sokolac – At the National Library in Sokolac, the collection of poems “Rakija i rane” by historian and writer Milan Micić, dedicated to Serbian volunteers and colonists who settled in Vojvodina, was promoted.
Misic, who is also the Serb general secretary of Matica, said the book contains about 150 poems dedicated to the volunteers of the Serbian army in World War I, who later became colonists of Vojvodina between the two world wars.
He said it was a book of destiny, through which he tried to poetically depict the First World War, volunteering and colonization processes in Vojvodina between the wars, where people immigrated from the Dinar region.
In promoting his poetry, the author gave a speech, and the songs of violinists Ilya Bachmak and Novak Princip enriched the pleasant atmosphere of the reading room of the National Library.
Professor Jovan Delic, deputy chairman of the Matica Serb party and one of the reviewers of the poetry collection “Rakija i rane”, said Mičić dedicated the book to his grandfather Jovan Mičić, a volunteer from Thessaloniki, and his comrades and colonists.
“Although Mišić is a widely varied creator who has published about 60 books of historiography, nonfiction, poetry, historical essays, etc. to date, he is better known as a prose writer than a poet, and his prose is reminiscent of Milorad Pavić, who is famous for his unusual and rather adventurous combination of fantasy and historical themes,” Delic said, Srna reports.
