Again… old books. The old destination of publishing, when you go back to that intimate paper era, you find it difficult to get rid of the strong nostalgia of the fifty, sixty years, leaving a trail of tears. Not because you cry, but because books and their authors have such tears. In the eighties, we (poets of Tafila) used to buy books from the original shops, I mean: … the Egyptian Book Bureau in Cairo, the Ministry of Culture in Damascus, the General House of Culture in Baghdad, the World of Knowledge Series in Kuwait, the Ancient History Publishing House in Beirut, the capital of weapons at the time, and at the same time it was the capital of rice, joy and turquoise… Today a lot has happened in these capitals, books are becoming less and less, their makers, ancient ancestors are becoming less and less, and weapons are becoming more and more… Let’s say, there are a lot of tears.
Put aside your sorrow like a pottery statue that could break at any moment, and read with me this sweet poem about grapes written by and quoted by a Persian poet. Ibrahim Al-Dasouki converted to Arabic in the eighties. He is: (Nader Nader Pour):
.. «.. What did you say? ../.. What witness is this../.. Every sweet grape contains nectar../.. What witness is this? ? .. These are tears. ./.. Tears The hardworking old gardener, blocking the road at night../.. staying up until dawn../.. watering the vineyard../.. bending over. ”
Do you want to be a literary critic? Well, back in the 80s, too. Twenty-three male and female writers answer the question: “What is criticism?”
These answers will form a massive book of more than 300 pages collected, formatted and edited by Paul Herr Nadi and translated into Arabic by Sulafa Hijawi, which will be published by the General Directorate of Culture in Baghdad (1989).
To this day, as we are in 2024, some cultural newspapers ask this question (What is criticism?), sometimes this question rotates in the form of “What is literary criticism?”, sometimes in the form of “What is cultural criticism?” This formula, after twenty-three studies proposed more than thirty years ago, what can we read?
Are some of the intellectual and literary materials of our Arab culture “contemplative materials”? A review of the materials on the questions and answers about him eating and drinking, as they say, (and Eternity) neither eats nor drinks, but destroys and destroys … For some reason, Eternity is associated with the pharmacist. . And the pharmacist does not repair what Eternity has destroyed …
