Black Myth: Wukong is one of the most anticipated games of 2024, and a few hours after its launch on August 20, Black Myth: Wukong has become a trend, but there is no positive reason. What happened?

First, some background.
Black Myth: Wukong is an action role-playing game based on the classic 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West, where players control the Monkey King and fight to become a legend.
In this game, they will have to face giant creatures and other mysterious animals in a series of battles that will push them to their limits.
so, Why is there a hurricane in the eye?
It turns out that the game’s marketing team sent a piece of code to several content creators to try the game and provide feedback.
What no one expected was that the code would come with a list of topics and things they couldn’t mention in their videos, including “feminist propaganda” and pandemics.

There are five points in total:
- Do not insult other influencers or players.
- Do not use offensive language/humor.
- Do not include politics, violence, nudity, feminist propaganda, fetishism, or other content that promotes negative speech.
- Do not use keywords like “quarantine,” “isolation,” or “COVID-19.”
- Do not discuss content related to policies, opinions, news, etc. Chinese video game industry.
It’s no secret to anyone that China’s policies can be extremely strict, but it may come as a surprise to many that such restrictions extend to video games.
Even more worryingly, Game Science, the company behind the game, has been accused more than once of sexist comments made by the video game studio’s founder and other company employees.

Even media outlets like Eurogamer accused them of wanting to control the narrative and avoid negative reviews at all costs, avoiding answering certain potentially compromising questions.

Now, What does the community say about this game?
The general consensus among the professional media is that Black Myth: Wukong is a very good action game with a frenetic combat system, a beautiful world to explore, and memorable enemies, but it sometimes drowns in technical issues that prevent the game from functioning properly. It’s a bit annoying.
It’s currently ranked 55th among the best games of 2024, with a score of 81 out of 100, according to Metacritic, a site that aggregates reviews of all games.

If you want to give Black Myth: Wukong a chance, you can get it digitally exclusively on next-gen consoles.
On PlayStation 5 and PC, the game will be available starting August 20, while a version for Xbox Series X|S will be released sometime this year, though no official release date has been given for that console yet.
