Tazabek – The construction of CHPP-2 is scheduled to be completed in 2027. This was announced by Bishkek Deputy Mayor Talaibek Baygaziev at a press conference today (July 24, 2024).
He said the restoration of the Sermash thermal power plant in Bishkek will be completed by 2028.
“Thus, both thermal power plants will switch to gas in 2028, but the Bishkek thermal power plant will not be fully switched to gas by then,” he said.
Baigaziev said that the Bishkek thermal power plant is located almost in the city center, so coal-fired heating should be gradually abandoned.
He suggested that the Bishkek thermal power plant should give up coal only by 2030.
