Dam Press:
The Jerusalem Post reports that US President Joe Biden changed the tone of his speech to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during negotiations on a prisoner swap deal.
The newspaper referred to content released by Israel’s Channel 12 in its report, which revealed a conversation between Netanyahu and Biden this week.
The channel reported that Netanyahu told Biden during the call: “We are sending a delegation to follow up on the details,” to which Biden responded: “Stop lying to me.”
Biden and senior US officials are reportedly extremely frustrated by the impact of two Israeli assassinations in Beirut and Tehran.
The opposition stems from the U.S. belief that Netanyahu concealed his plans to carry out the assassination from Biden, and he impressed last week by responding to the U.S. president’s request to focus on reaching a deal on Gaza, the newspaper reported.
In addition to the obvious tensions between Netanyahu, Biden and U.S. officials, new information about rising tensions emerged from discussions between Netanyahu and Israeli security leaders over the swap deal.
Israeli Army Chief of Staff Herzig Halevi told Netanyahu that the prisoner exchange deal was conditional, adding: “I believe it is right to negotiate and get the best result.”
