Washington – President of the United States, Joe BidenIn an address to the nation on Wednesday, he said he would continue working to “end the war in Gaza” within six months of his departure from the White House.
“I will continue to work to end the war in Gaza, to bring back all the hostages, to bring peace and security to the Middle East and to put an end to this war,” the president said in a brief speech as he decided to end his re-election campaign for the November election.
In this historic speech, Biden said he is the first president this century who can say that the United States is not at war anywhere in the world, and he will remain committed to keeping the country strong.

He also pledged to continue to “unite a coalition of nations to prevent” Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “takeover of Ukraine” and to work “day and night” to return “Americans who have been unjustly detained around the world” to the United States.
Biden is due to meet on Thursday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is visiting the United States on an official visit that sparked pro-Palestinian protests in Washington on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Although the United States is Israel’s main partner and arms supplier, bilateral relations are not in the best shape due to its handling of the war with the Islamist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Biden accused Netanyahu of being too harsh in his military offensive on Gaza, which has left nearly 39,000 people dead, 90,000 injured and 1.9 million displaced since the war broke out on Oct. 7.
