A group of 12 Bhutanese youth baseball and softball players are participating in a cultural exchange program in the United States centered around baseball, America’s favorite pastime.
Invited by the Hudson Valley Renegades, the New York Yankees’ premium Class A affiliate, the Bhutanese team will watch a live baseball game at the Renegades’ home field, interact with players, and participate in various activities designed to deepen their understanding of the game.

Baseball as a sport is growing in popularity in Bhutan.
For the teenagers, it was their first time traveling abroad.
The Hudson Valley Renegades have planned a number of activities to ensure the young Bhutanese team makes the most of their time in the U.S. They will explore the Hudson Valley, participate in local community events, and interact with baseball players to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of each other’s culture.
Hudson Valley Renegades General Manager Zach Betkowski said through this exchange program, they are creating lifelong memories for Bhutanese youth while also raising awareness in the local and global baseball community.
“Our efforts to promote baseball have been very successful to date, and we look forward to a long-term partnership between the Hudson Valley Renegades and the Bhutan Baseball and Softball Association,” said Zach Betkowski.
