According to media reports, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri proposed a comprehensive package deal that includes the presidency and prime ministership.
“The proposed agreement covers not only the selection of the next president, but also the appointment of the prime minister and the formation of a new government,” Liwa newspaper reported on Tuesday.
“This approach is reminiscent of the French proposal to elect Suleiman Franjiya as president in exchange for the appointment of Nawaf Salam as prime minister,” the newspaper stressed.
