Algerian energy and hydrocarbons company Sonatrach announced that it will send today (Thursday) the first batch of natural gas to Lebanon, estimated at about 30,000 tons, to support its operating power plants.
The National Oil Corporation said in a statement yesterday that the cargo was in implementation of the directives of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to provide energy support to Lebanon to help it overcome the current crisis.
She confirmed Algeria’s support to Lebanon in its current difficult circumstances by immediately providing it with a large amount of energy to enable the operation of Lebanese power plants and restore electricity.
Last Sunday, Tebboune decided to supply a batch of natural gas to Lebanon for the operation of Lebanese power plants.
Last Saturday, the Lebanese Electricity Company announced that due to the depletion of gas oil, all Lebanese territories had completely stopped power supply, including basic facilities such as the airport, Beirut Port and prisons.
