PAYAKUMBU, West Sumatra (ANTARA) – The upcoming Botuang Festival in Payakumbu, West Sumatra, will showcase various arts and cultures inspired by bamboo, Payakumbu Acting Mayor Rida Ananda said on Sunday.
The festival is expected to take place from July 13 to 15, 2023.
“As the name suggests, this Botuang (bamboo) event will feature various arts and cultural activities centered around bamboo,” he said.
The festival will include music and dance performances, exhibitions of micro, small and medium enterprises, and other bamboo-related activities.
The festival is part of West Sumatra’s famous tourism events and is listed by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy as the 110th Kharisma Nusa Tenggara Event (KEN).
“This makes the Botuang Festival in Payakumbu one of the most popular cultural and artistic events for tourists in West Sumatra,” Ananda said.
The mayor invited all parties, especially tourists, to participate in this cultural and artistic event that has been shelved for many years due to the new coronavirus pandemic.
West Sumatra Tourism Office director Luhul Budianda said the festival contributes to the development of tourism in the region.
He mentioned that almost all regions and cities in West Sumatra have their own unique tourism activities to attract more tourists.
This year, the province’s tourism industry is being revitalized under the “Beautiful West Sumatra Tourism Plan 2023”.
Budianda believes that more tourism activities will attract more tourists and ultimately boost the regional economy.
