Barry Keoghan teams up with adidas for Manchester United video

Barry Keoghan, the actor from Dublin Oscar and Golden Globe Awards Nominations and IFTA and British Academy Film Awards Winning, In partnership with adidas, we present Manchester United’s exciting new third kit.

The video, titled “You Can’t Be Original,” premiered today, August 14. Dublin native Keohane Deliver a heartfelt monologue to the 90s hit “Born Slippy” by Underworld.

“I found myself dreaming like a child.” Keoghanwearing the new Manchester United kit, said in the video.

“And then that lightning bolt hit me. When it happens, you know it right away.

“That’s what I want, that’s what I’ll always do.”

Keoghan’s monologue could easily be reminiscent of that of an actor or sports star, which is fitting since the Oscar nominee once considered a career in football or boxing.

“I thought I was going to be a football player or a boxer or something like that – I loved sports,” he told vice In 2017.

“When I finished acting, I don’t know, there was something that I cared about—I couldn’t put my finger on what it was, and I’m not very good at putting my finger on it.

“It’s all great for all the good stuff, but there’s some other reasons I do it, I don’t know, so. It’s therapeutic — expression and all that — so it’s that way.”

The nostalgia-filled video is a great complement to Manchester United’s new third kit, which is reminiscent of the club’s kits from the 90s.

Manchester United said at the time of the jersey release: “This jersey will return the Adidas trefoil logo to Manchester United jerseys for the first time since the 1990s, marking the brand’s upcoming anniversary in 2025.”


As Manchester United put it, adidas Originals “pulled all the stops” for the new campaign, featuring “a host of contemporary superstars” in addition to Keohane.

Indeed, the new video features Luke Shaw, Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobe Mainu, Gaby George, Amad, Dennis Irwin, Bryan Robson, Frank Stapleton and Jaap Stam, as well as social media star Angry Ginge.

As it happens, Stapleton, who is from Dublin, is Keohane’s cousin.

The video was filmed at The Cliff in Salford, where United used to train before moving to Carrington.
