The Judicial Institution of the Caribbean Netherlands (JICN) helps detainees reintegrate into society. Through the “Ban pa Kambio” project in partnership with Fundashon Forma, detainees can attend training courses and obtain certificates. This increases their chances of entering the labour market during the reintegration phase. Several prisoners achieved important milestones at a recent graduation ceremony.

During the ceremony, one of the detainees received the MBO1 diploma in the hotel, food and food industry. In addition, 17 certificates in different fields were awarded:
- 10 certificatesSocial skills
- 3 Certificate DDigital skills
- 2 Certificates in Numeracy 2F to 3F
- 2 English certificates Level A2
The importance of this project
The “Ban pa Kambio” program is essential for the reintegration of detainees into society. During their detention, they have the opportunity to develop themselves through training, apprenticeship programs and work at the MBO1 level. The focus is on sectors with high employment, such as gardening, construction and catering. In addition to MBO1, from February 2025, detainees will be able to continue their studies up to MBO2. This ensures better job opportunities and a successful reintegration into society after detention.

“Ban pa Kambio” is a collaborative project with the training institution Fundashon Forma. Together they ensure that detainees not only gain theoretical knowledge but also practical skills. This prepares them for their new life after detention.
