Bad Bunny Remembers Antonio Caban-Ville “El Topo” – Metro Puerto Rico

Puerto Rican Urban Representative Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as “Bad Bunny”, has taken to social networks to remember the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Antonio Cabán Vale, nicknamed “El Topo”, who died at the age of 81.

Bad Bunny shared a photo of Cabán Vale and the song “Verde luz”. This composition from “El Topo” is considered one of the national anthems of Puerto Rico, along with “Lamento borincano” and “En mi Viejo San Juan”.

Another person who mourned the musician’s death was Puerto Rican singer Luceta Benitez.

“I share the sorrow of my island over the passing of patriot and singer-songwriter Antonio Caban Vale ‘El Topo. Although his voice has been silenced, his music lives on in our hearts and in the history of the Puerto Rican nation,” he said in a written statement.

“From my own country, Argentina, I extend a hug to his children and family, hoping that they will find solace in shared memories and the certainty that Antonio Cabán-Ville’s legacy will transcend generations,” he added.

“El Topo” was born on November 22, 1942 in the town of Moca. He wrote songs, poems and was also a teacher.

“We had a family day and we even attended the funeral of my uncle, Don Cosme Vale. My father had not been to Moca in more than three years. We had a normal day until we had dinner on the way. We also went with my sister and we even stopped in Guajataca. He felt fine and when we got home I took him out of the car and he went to sleep. When I came out of the bathroom I realized that I had run out of air. I immediately called 9-1-1 and when the paramedics arrived I gave him assisted breathing. The paramedics told me that his vital signs were still there. “I went with him in the ambulance to the Pavia Hospital in Hatoreí and around 9:00 pm on Tuesday night I was told that there was nothing they could do and that my father had died in my arms,” ​​he said to the artist’s son, Adeán Cabán Butter.

In February 2021, Cabanville suffered a stroke that left him semi-bedridden and partially impaired with vision due to the loss of mobility on the right side of his body. “El Topo” was a heart patient. In 2011, they performed four bypass At the Cardiovascular Hospital in Rio Piedras, complications ensued.”
