In a letter to Amadou and his partner Amina, Dr. Kebeh recognized the negative impact of his words:
“I want to acknowledge that my words may have hurt you. I realize that what I said was inappropriate, given the way I said it; I understand the impact it may have had on you. I am deeply sorry for the pain my words may have caused you, your loved ones, and my loved ones. This was not my intention, and I deeply regret what happened. I promise to be more mindful in the future…”
She concluded by asking for a public apology while expressing her gratitude to those who continue to support her:
“Alhamdullilaah Ya Rabbana always guides me in the direction of insight, which is Furqàan. Yalla Mayla Werr ak goudd is a fan beyond science. Al kamal lil laah.”
Reactions on social networks
Reactions to the apology were mixed. One user expressed outrage, declaring:
“The female doctor here is too self-righteous and, what’s worse, she thinks she has a monopoly on truth and knowledge. (…) But the highlight is his latest incredible edition. She also made a mistake during an official visit to Paris by the Second Lady of the Republic…”
The criticism highlights the feeling shared by many that Dr. Kebe sometimes overstepped the boundaries of his role as a doctor by making inappropriate announcements on social networks.
Response from the patient’s family
The patient’s partner, Amina Amadou Sow, quickly responded to Dr. Kebbe’s apology, denying the allegations against her husband:
“Good evening, Madam Oumouhamed Khaleefah, I salute you, the wife of DAUR KAT, who claims to suffer from Daur Niit yi. (…) Madam, you do not deserve the respect that the Senegalese people give you. Do you think you have a monopoly on the truth?”
Message of hope from patients
Despite the controversy, patient Amadou expressed hope and gratitude. After an intense battle with pancreatic cancer that metastasized to the liver, he was declared in complete remission from his pancreatic tumor:
“It was an extremely long and painful battle, but thank God we won. (…) Thank you to my sister Aita Lo, thank you Killah Killah, thank you E-Streaming Films & Série family…”
